Getting an iPhone has been life changing for me and my business! It is so handy and allows me to check so many things off of my ‘to-do’ list while I am on the go… And let me tell you, with a full-time job, a small business, and an 18 month-old, anything that makes my life easier is worth it!
So I thought I would compile a quick list of the apps I use for my business and maybe they will help you save some precious time in your day too! All of these are available for Android phones as well, so for all you anti-iPhone people (like my husband) I am not leaving you out either! Plus, I root for both teams, because I use a Samsung Tablet instead of an iPad.
1.Sherwin Williams ColorSnap
Cost: FREE!
Fall in love with that Peacock Blue Sweater you bought and want a piece of furniture to match? Turn it into a paint color with a touch of a button using ColorSnap from Sherwin Williams! Using your phone’s built in camera, simply take a picture and it uploads and color matches to one of Sherwin-Williams 1,500 paint colors. It even saves the colors for you to refer to for future projects!
2. Behr ColorSmart
Cost: FREE
Same concept as ColorSnap but also has the added feature of showing you coordinating colors and also lets you upload a picture of your room or furniture and apply the color so you will see how it looks
3. Craigslist
Cost: Some are free and some are not. These are the ones I have personally used and would recommend.
Craigsphone
Cost: FREE!
Post, search, and email potential buyers and sellers. The downside is that it won’t save your most common searches or listings you want to follow up on. Still good if you want the basics and it’s FREE!
CraigsPro
Cost: .99
All the same as the free addition, but it saves your most common searches and tells you the last time you ran the search. All saves postings you want to look at later, but the downside is that it doesn’t remove them from the list once the seller has taken the item down. It also has a little more advanced search options than the free addition as well.
Side Note: This is the one I currently use.
CraigsPro+
Cost: $1.99
All the same as both of the above but also sends you Push Notifications when new items are listed under your saved search settings. 50 Push Notifications are free and then there is a charge for additional Push Notifications after 50. This one seems good, but I get overwhelmed with all of those Push Notifications and I feel I am fully capable of searching on my own… Hey maybe I miss a deal or two, but I stresses me out when my phone is constantly dinging!
4. ThriftBuddy
Cost:FREE!

I really hesitated sharing this one, I don’t want to give away ALL of my thrifty secrets! But, I figure, there is enough funky junk for us all, so why not? This is my FAVORITE app out of all the apps in the world! This app allows you to look up thrift store locations by proximity, city, state, or zip, mark locations as your favorites, list yourself as a shopper of locations, review locations to recommend, and much more!
I love this when I am out of town or not familiar with the area and it will point me to where the thrift stores are! LOVE IT!
5. Yard Sale Mapper
Cost:FREE!
Maps out garage sales strategically for you to maximize your time!
6. Garage Sale Tracker
Cost: FREE!
7. Estate Sale Finder
Cost: $1.99
Gives you the address & description of local estate sales. It doesn’t list every estate sale, so I am not sure where they get their info from, but it’s still a good app. Also includes a map, and you know some of those Estate Sales tend to be off the beaten path.
8. Paypal
Cost: FREE!
I collect deposits for my workshops via PayPal, so this allows me to see who has paid,
transfer money to my business account, and even invoice someone, all from my phone! This one is a MUST!
9. iXpenseIt Lite:
Cost: FREE
This app helps me keep track of my expenses. Generally I use my business debit card for business purchases, but in the Garage Sale and Thrifting business – cash is KING, so I have to make frequent ATM withdrawals. This allows me to keep track of what I purchased with my cash so the IRS will stay off of my back. And I won’t have to claim that expense as Owner Income or Draws.
10. Pinterest
Cost: Free
Nuff Said. You can read about my pinning addiction
here.
What’s your favorite app you can’t live without? Tell me and I will download it. I am an app addict and I am pretty sure Steve Jobs has my bank account on auto-debit at this point. Hope you find a few of these handy and taking your junk hunting to the next level!
