Thrift in the City: Bargain Thrift
Thrift in the City is my review of local Oklahoma City and Metro Area thrift shops and spots to find antique and furniture deals in OKC. This week’s review is of Bargain Thrift in Oklahoma City.
Bargain Thrift has two locations in Oklahoma City, one on NW 16th & Meridian Ave. and the second location on Western & Hefner. They also have a location in Tulsa on I-44 & 49th West Ave in the Town West Center. This review is from the Western & Hefner store, although the store at 16th & Meridian is much larger and the clerk at the counter was convinced the Meridian Store has better stuff. I’ll give you my two cents when I go.
Enough of the logistics, let’s get on with it!
I go to this thrift store about once a week because it’s sorta close to my office. I love going thrifting in the middle of the day, wearing my snazzy suit, heels, and carrying my Tory Burch bag. Especially when some dude with his butt crack hanging out of his pants asks me for money. So now I just leave my purse in the car. Plus, it gives me an extra arm for shopping. Bonus!
Here are the most qualified candidates from this shopping trip.
I almost bought this sterling silver candelabra for $6.99, but it was missing several of the crystals so I opted not too. If it’s marked down next week, I will probably change my mind.
I loved this heavy and HUGE metal pear. I think it’s charming and would look great on my bookshelf in my living room or in my booth for sale. It was $9.99 and I didn’t buy it either and I am already regretting it!
Look at this freakin’ huge remote! Am I the only one that is always searching for the remote in my bed sheets at night? Nope, didn’t buy it either, just thought it was funny.
How about a pink lame’ dress? Ha.
I bought this chair for my Mom at $12.99. She bought a dining room set for her breakfast room and it only had three chairs and this is gonna match perfectly! Well, almost perfectly. She painted the set black and distressed it, so you won’t even be able to tell.
Some $9.99 Uggs in size 7.
Not my size.
Prada shoes for 50% off of $89.99.
Not my style. Darn.
The last candidate was this chair. It wasn’t priced, so the rule at Bargain Thrift is: If it isn’t priced it goes into the back room for repricing and they won’t sell it to you. I tried to negotiate with them, but no can do. At least I tried, right?
I guess I wasn’t in the shopping mood because I didn’t buy much!
My hubs would be proud!
Bargain Thrift has color coded pricing. Almost all of the items I mentioned were priced at original price. Every Monday they do their markdowns before they open and all original price items become 50% off, all 50% off become 75% off and so forth.
The clerk told me that there is a line at the front door on Mondays starting at 8:30 am for first dibs on the new markdowns. I am not that hardcore, so I am sure you won’t see me in line! But bravo if you are that dedicated!
I was also told that the employees are not allowed to shop at any of the locations so customers can have first pick and all of their inventory. Love that!
What I love the most is that Bargain Thrift is also Donationpickup.org, which means that they will come pick up your donated items from you. I have personally used to pick up furniture and donated items. They are on time and take everything and anything! You can also choose which charity your items are donated to (or really the proceeds of the sale of the items go to). They are contracted with Prevent Blindness, Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled (my personal fave), and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Oklahoma.
Pat yourself on the back because you can get rid of your junk and get warm fuzzys at the same time!

You can schedule your pick-up by calling 866-OKPICKUP or by visiting Donation Pickup’s website.
Bargain Thrift is one of my favorite thrifty spots to hit so they get an A rating in my book. (Even though I wished they would negotiate on their prices, but the markdowns usually make up for it)
Where should I shop and review next? Email me your favorite shopping spot and I will hit it up!
Happy Thrifting!

I have to confess that I have never been to a thrift store, but I may have to try it out and start with this location since you give it an A. I don't think I could have passed up that candelabra…even with the missing crystals.
I love me some Bargin Thrift Store!! I had no idea they had more than one location! I will have to check the others out
Great review!
