No Sew State Pride Pillow

Ya’ll know I don’t sew.  I have a sewing machine that is still in the box from LAST Christmas.  It’s sad.  Today I am sharing a quick and easy No Sew pillow tutorial to show off your state pride!  Even us non-sewers can have pretty pillows!

Here is what you will need:

Decorative Pillow Cover from Hobby Lobby $4.19 with 40% Off Coupon.

Steam-A-Seam found in the sewing section at Hob Lob $2.63 with 40%off Coupon.

A printed out photo of your state.

For the Okies, I used this one, and just copy and pasted it onto a word document to make it larger.

Scrap of Fabric

Pillow Form.  I don’t know how much these are because I used one from a pillow I was tired of.

Cut out the image of your state and trace onto a sheet of Steam-A-Seam.

No, my thumb is not bruised.  I like to try on nail polish at CVS before I buy it .

Once you cut out your state peel off the front of the Steam-a-Seam and stick it to the back of the fabric.

Use the Steam-A-Seam as your template and cut the fabric while the Steam-A-Seam is still adhered.

Peel off the other side and stick it to your pillow form.

Iron.

Done.

Easy.

I guess you could sew the edges with a sewing machine to make it extra sturdy for kids to use.

Oh, yes, I have cats on my ironing board.  I never thought too much about it until this picture.  Now I just look like a weird cat lady.

Since mine is just going to sit on my front porch I am not too worried about sturdiness.

And you can now make your own No Sew State Pride Pillow to greet your guests too!

You could also iron on just about any shape and remake an old pillow.

Mustaches, super hero logos, initials, I think that Steam-A-Seam is really a game changer for a non-sewer like me!

What can you cut out and iron on a pillow?

  • Cute!!! Super cute. I love using iron-on stuff, so versatile. And oh man I love this green chair a LOT. It is suddenly competing with my addiction to turquoise. Happy week to you, creative (crazy cat) lady!

Cute idea! Definitely pinning this, I am thinking they might sell well.

I am trying to rewire my brain after a long weekend, and it isn’t even fully recovered from Christmas Break! Allison, can you link this up at my party that starts at 2:00 PST today? I would love to share with my readers next week.
