Hi. I am a paint retailer and I just now painted my own cabinets. Since the #1 question I get is about how to paint cabinets I figured it was about time to tackle my own.
If you missed Part 1 in my how to paint cabinets post, you can find it here.
It’s been a few weeks since I completed this project and I am happier and happier with the result. I was completely freaked out by paint color commitment. I chose Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Trophy.
It really pulled the gray out of my granite.
I sealed it with Minwax Wipe-On Poly in Clear Satin.
I feathered in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint Antiquing Wax in the cracks and crevices and then blending it in with a rag. The antiquing wax really brought out the details and curvy lines of the island.
I also love how contrasting and sharp the gray looks next to the bright white pillars. They really pop instead of blend in like they did with the light colored cabinets before.
Here is what my cabinets looked like before.
I love the transformation. I will stick to painting furniture and won’t be starting my own cabinet painting business soon. But it was so worth the little bit of sweat equity I put into it.
