My Milk Paint Monday at The Cottage Collective {Milk Paint Furniture}

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint workshop in Wichita, KS. Milk Paint is such a verstile paint product and there is always something new to learn!

Education is the foundation of my business.  Without it I would most definitely be on food stamps.

The class was hosted by Abbe Doll, the owner of The Cottage Collective in Wichita, KS and the talented furniture painter behind All Dolled Up.

She had milk paint furniture ready to greet us as we entered.  Don’t you love this color?  Truly one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen. As soon as I set foot in the class I knew I was in good company.

The class was also taught by Jennylyn Pringle of Homestead House Paint Company, the manufacturer of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint.  Homestead House is a family owned company, started by Jennylyn’s father, in 1988.  Did you know that each bag of Milk Paint that we use from Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint is hand poured?

I learned tons of new finishes and left with even more of a passion for Milk

Clearly I was deep in thought here, admiring Flow Blue and thinking about my next projects.

The class  was made up of hobbyists, professional furniture painters, and Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint retailers from all over the nation.

After class we got to have a private tour of Abbe’s shop, The Cottage Collective.  Visiting her store was like walking into Pinterest giving birth to a craft baby.  And it also gave me the itch to own my own store. It was amazing.

I bought several handmade items such as a leather bracelet and a fun table talk game for our upcoming family road trip.

I could have spent hours in there.

Since coming home from Wichita I have been secretly peering in the windows of commercial spaces for lease.  I know that this season in my life isn’t meant for the commitment of a retail store, but I can dream, right?

The Cottage Collective also partnered with us to donate goods to Oklahoma Tornado victims.

Isn’t that awesome?  I left the class with more knowledge than I had before and a few new painting friends from across the US.  Well worth the trip!
