Metallic Silver Dresser {Before & After}
Update: I now carry the Metallic Powdered Pigments needed to complete this project. After many many many emails I heard ya’ll! You can find them here.
I am back to getting my Refunk on this week since the temps around here have finally cooled off! Even though you can paint indoors with CeCe Caldwell’s, since there are no VOCs, it was too hot to even lug furniture around!
I just bought this dresser at Bargains Galore a few weekends ago and I have been itching to work on her.

She had all kinds of mismatching knobs and some of the molding was missing off the the bottom drawers. But, the quatrefoil detail overrode all of her blemishes to me. As soon as I saw her, I was sold. S to the woon!
I painted her with one coat of Seattle Mist and then I took a page out of Altard’s E-Book and used the Martha Stewart Black Coffee Glaze over the top. Dude, that glaze is as addictive as real coffee is.
And I added some silver pigments to CeCe’s Clear Wax just to give it a luxurious, metallic, silver finish.
I added crystal knobs.
And see what I mean by that quatrefoil carvings I was obsessing about?
I love how she was transformed from an ugly stepsister on the side of the road into something more Cinderella like.
I am so tempted to keep her. But, I have learned that I always tell myself that. If I don’t love it, I don’t sell it. That’s my rule.
On another note, did you see my guest post over at How To Nest for Less this week?
There are some pretty post-Axton chubby photos of me over there… So you won’t want to miss seeing my extra rolls! Oh, and maybe you can check out some of my projects while your over there too.
Have a great weekend and go get your DIY on!

Hi, Alli. This is gorgeous! The silver metallic with the black glaze is an awesome finish. I really like it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Ok…another dumb question…what is the story on silver pigments?? Where do you find them? I love the dresser refunk!!!
Great makeover on this piece! Love the color mixed with the glass knobs! Please advise where and what kind of silver pigment you used. I’ve never tried adding pigment to paint.
I got the pigments from my CeCe Distributor and I’m begging her to find me some more so I can offer them toy customers! They are so awesome!
fabulous cinderella story with a silver lining!
smiles to you.

I LOVE this! And everything else you do for that matter! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Terri!!
Allison, I have a vanity that I want to do the same way you did this chest. I know to get Seattle Mist and the Martha Stewart black coffee glaze. Can I get the silver pigments at the Feathered Nest? How much do I need? It is a small vanity. I love this chest, you did a fabulous job! Also I wanted to get a little more detail on your swap meet. I was holding back until I saw my Dr this week, but I know we buy a ticket, just not sure if we just bring our things, have a little set up place. Sorry, I just haven’t figured this all out, but am very interested.
I purchased the pigments from a place where you can not buy them anymore, I am researching more and when I find them I will let you know.
Hi Allison, I came over from Transformation Thursday. Beautiful dresser! Might have to try that color on one of my projects! Thanks for sharing
