Happy Memorial Day friends! We are spending the day in our garden, playing in the sprinkler with our kids, eating popsicles, grilling hot dogs, and letting them live the dream in a new plastic pool from WalMart!
Isn’t that what memories are made of?
I made a few changes to this watercolor dresser that I really needed to share with you. I just kept feeling like this project wasn’t complete and I have been contemplating my next move for weeks.
I loved the look but I couldn’t visualize it in my own home.
So how could I expect someone else to put it in theirs?
A few extra steps made this dresser absolute, worn, layered paint perfection.
Wet sanding gives you the smoothest furniture finish you can ever create.
It feels like it came from a furniture store.
But it didn’t.
And is so much lovelier than a big box store could ever create.
I shot a quick, uncut, sweaty, gym clothes video just so you can see the process of wet sanding in action.
That extra few steps pulled back all of the layers of paint.
Now I can totally picture this piece in my house.
The orbital sander hit the high points and left the Oxidized Patina Spray Wax in the cracks and crevices while showcasing all of the colors I applied to the piece.
I can now officially call this piece DONE.
I had to make it “me” before I put my name on it.
What do you think about the sanded back hemp oil version?
Which one would you put in your house?
