With the first day of Spring marked off the calendar it also marks the time of year where my regular yoga pants and hoodie are no longer acceptable. I decided to call my stylist, Patty Rankin, to help me spruce up my wardrobe for the warmer temps. I have gained 15 pounds and my muffin top is really being stubborn! I have been struggling with what to wear and understand what is flattering on my fluffy figure!
Patty to the rescue! You can see my past style sessions with Patty HERE. It’s also worth noting that I show off my bra collection hanging on my closet door knob. Be impressed.
If you haven’t heard me talk about Patty, let me tell you why I LURVE her to pieces.
She styles YOU for YOUR season of life. Not what a magazine says is in style or what the latest celebrity is wearing. She creates outfits and a look book with the clothes you already own.
No expensive Nordstrom credit card bill.
No shaming my mom jeans.
Patty focuses on making you feel and look great, whatever season you are in!
Here are the looks she created for my spring style session. Since I have been working with Patty for over 1 year I actually challenged her to a tops-I-never-wear challenge.
There were 6 shirts I had bought plus the yellow blazer that I had been struggling to incorporate into my wardrobe. Patty whipped together some really cute looks in no time!
Here are a few things I learned during my style session:
Pick the smallest pop of color in your shirt and match your pants or jeans to tiniest color.
I haven’t gotten much use out of the olive colored jeans and she found several ways for me to wear them with items that had very little green in them! I was shocked.
Yes, I already wore one of these outfits in a news segment today. See the below evidence.
Unbutton your blouses and wear them like a cardigan.
I had never heard of this trick but I loved the leopard blouse unbuttoned with a black and white striped top underneath!
Espadrilles are a must have this spring and summer season.
Patty always recommends just a few things to add to your wardrobe to keep your clothes current and stay on trend. The only item she said I NEEDED was to get some espadrilles in my life. Apparently they are the modern day, chunky, Steve Madden black sandal.
Except you can actually walk in them.
The next day I met Patty at Mainstream Boutique in Edmond and she helped me pick out the most perfect pair of gray espadrilles. I loved the gray color of the shoes because they go with both brown tone outfits as well as black shoe appropriate outfits. They even showed off this pair of moto jeggings and shoes styled 3 ways on their FB Page!
And yes, I bought both the floral shirt and chartreuse top!
Somebody stop me!
I met the owner of Mainstream Boutique, Amber Goodall, and she is a real gem. I just loving meeting other women business owners who want to lift each other up! What I loved about her store was how unique all of the clothing was and would be relevant for all ages, College to Retirement – they had it all.
Another cool program they have is you can get 10% off one item when you check-in on Facebook while you are in the store. A woman using the power of social media! Now that’s one smart cookie.
Mainstream Boutique does not have an online store but you can follow them on Facebook (they are always posting really awesome outfit ideas!) and Instagram. You can comment on an item and they will ship it to you. You can see these game changing espadrilles below.
Ladies, here is the sad part about this style session. Patty is moving to San Antonio in MAY!!!!
Devestated doesn’t even begin to describe how my closet and I feel about this!
Patty only has 4-5 style sessions open for booking in Oklahoma before she moves! Shoot her an email and get on her schedule because she is giving 20% off any session when you book before April 14, 2017. But Texas peeps (that’s 33% of my blog readers!) she’s booking for Texas already so go ahead give her a shout too. Just use the promo code RFMJstyleOKC to get your 20% off.
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITHOUT PATTY STYLING ME?????
Will I go back to looking like a minivan mom who hasn’t showered in 3 days? Let’s hope not.
I love Patty. I hired her last year for my daughter that lives there and she was amazing. I loved what she did for you in your first style session so I immediately booked her. I just wish she lived in Phoenix so I could get her in my closet. I went to an adorable boutique in Yukon Called One Faith Boutique when I was in OK City for New Years. If you haven’t been there you should check them out on Facebook or stop in and see their shop. Thanks for always being so real!
Alison you always amaze me. I always think you look great and wondered how you do it. How did you first find Patty? I had no idea such a person existed for regular folks.
She goes to my church! I know right??? I don’t think I would have known about it unless I had met her personally! There is such a need for this service!
