Happy Friday friends! I am finally jumping on the gallery wall bandwagon!
I know I am a little late to this party and gallery walls are certainly not a new idea! I have had an eclectic collection of wall art just sitting on the floor in desperate need of some strategic wall placement.
The wall above my bed has been a constant struggle for me. Last summer I teamed up with Royal Design Stencils to make this DIY Canvas Wall Art. As much as I loved it I never felt the scale was quite right. The canvases were still too small for the large space.
I just taught a Milk Paint Basics Class and we made these to die for ombre monogram signs during the workshop, so I knew I wanted that to be the focal point. I also gathered up the remainder of my misfit wall art I had been collecting and then I took to Pinterest to check out some gallery wall examples. I spread my first draft on the floor but it was too vertical and the scale still wasn’t right. Boo. Back to the chopping block.
I was happier with the second version although once I started hanging I still switched things up.
I hung the ombre monogrammed sign first and then continued to build around it. I didn’t worry too much about exact measurements and pretty much eyeballed most of the art placement. I was thankful my husband wasn’t home because I could picture his eyes twitching in anxiety, watching me not hang them exactly, precisely, in perfect width from each other.
Am I the only one who is obsessed with this sign?
I am so happy with how my first attempt at a gallery wall turned out! Have you jumped on the gallery wall train?
UPDATE: The Ombre Monogram Signs are available for custom order in my Etsy Shop. If you are local and would like to pick up instead of having it shipped you can email me your order at allison(at)refunkmyjunk.com. Also, I have gotten lots of questions if I am going to teach any more Milk Paint – Monogram Sign Classes. I am thinking about doing a few more classes in the fall because I think these would make awesome Christmas presents or some private classes for Christmas parties! But I don’t have any more on the schedule right now because summer is a slow time of year for workshops. I do only have 3 more Furniture Make & Take scheduled for the remainder of 2014 so if you have been wanting to take that class I would jump on that! If you want to be notified via email when new classes hit our schedule sign up here!
