Since I have a crafty blog and furniture business I feel like people expect me to have awesome decor in my home and super original, fun, creative ideas for parties, invitations, and pretty much every holiday that there is.
The real truth is that I spend so much time working on pieces and projects to sell in my booth that most of my personal and home projects get put on the back burner. I’m know these expectations are all in my head and it’s silly. Plus I have the best family and friend ever, so they know
how busy I am and that I try my best to get it all done, but sometimes it’s just impossible.
For instance, I had this Halloween wreath on my front door until about December 12th.
I had been wanting to make some sort of wall decor using these angel wings, letter, and wreath, but everytime I worked on it I was never happy with it.
So I just threw the angel wings on my door because I was tired of looking at the Halloween wreath and I felt like my neighbors were silently judging me.
And my Christmas card was a mall Santa picture and a Walgreens photo card.
No fancy photo shoots or fabulous family pics here.
I ran out of time, what can I say. Oh well, Axton was so darn cute he made up for it. And by the way, he loved Santa, wasn’t nervous and didn’t cry a bit. He even got to touch is beard.
And finally there is this hutch. I had it in my dining room as a replacement for when a large piece in my booth sold. And then I had Axton’s 1st birthday party, so I kind of just threw it up and hoped that no one would notice that it was half waxed with dark wax.
It was there for a few months and I kind of got attached to it. But, my first weekend as a vendor at The Feathered Nest I had a buffet sell (yay!), so I was forced to finish it and send it on over to the Nest for sale.
(I think it’s still there, a couple of peopled ask to drop the price, but they were low offers, so I declined.)
