four ounces of fabulous {a before & after}

Nervous about spending $32.95 on a quart of CeCe Caldwell’s Chalk and Clay paint?  A great way to experiment with our paint is to purchase a 4oz Sample Size.  I have often wondered, just how much can you really accomplish with 4oz?  A dinky, old picture frame project?  Nah.

How about a whole entire chair?  Don’t believe me?  Let’s put this theory to the test, shall we?

I started out with a Duncan Phyfe Style Chair.  I loved the detailing and fleur de lis shape on the chair back, but it was hard to notice it’s features beside that hideous fabric. Bleh!

I started out by mixing 75% Santa Fe Turqouise with 25% Vintage White.  If I was a mathematical genius I would say that is 3oz of Turquoise and 1oz of Vintage White.  Wow, I’m smart.

I mixed the two colors to tone down the Turquoise just a bit, to match my Ikat Fabric I had already picked out.  I also noticed, as a bonus, my favorite Purdy paint brush fits inside the 4oz container.  It’s the little things that really make my day!

I painted with two thin coats of paint (remember, no sanding or priming beforehand!), distressed, and then finished with Clear Wax mixed with a little bit of Hershey Brown.

What I love about CeCe’s paint is that you can mix any of the paints with the clear wax for limitless paint and waxing options!  The Hershey Brown combined with the wax gives a slight antique finish to any paint color that I just lurve!  And once you wax, no more glazing, waiting for it to dry, and then finally applying a poly finish.  You just wax and your done!

Here is the after:  Painted, Waxed, and Recovered!  The process with CeCe’s paint  is so simple.  And, as you can see with my killer math skillz,  the simpler the process the better for this gal.

So here is the after: all respectable and fancy, just waiting for a classy lady to sit her bottom on.

And brace yourself, because look at the 4oz container when I was done! Some left over paint!  Wow!

Since I was able to tackle the chair with only 4 oz  of paint, I am ready for a new challenge!  What should I paint next?  And don’t make it easy!  I am thinking an end-table, but more importantly, what would you challenge me to paint using only a 4oz sample?  Tell me what you think and as long as it’s not an Armoire I will take the on the challenge and paint it!

I am ready and waiting to crack open my next sample size!
