Oh cooler temps are just right around the corner, I can just feel it in my bones! Guilty as charged, I’ve already been sharing all the memes about one leaf falling, everything PSL, and rocking lumberjack outfits.
I’m that basic B. I own it. And it serves me well. Because I latch onto wardrobe basics and then rock them like they are a brand new outfit every dang day of the week. I’m sharing an ever-s0-simple dress in Hunter Green – one of the colors I am crushing on right now.
During our trip to MAGIC in Las Vegas there were tones of 1980’s vibes everywhere.
Now that you are shaking your head don’t be too shy… Because Burgundy and Hunter Green were smack dab in the middle of your mom’s living room, right down to the floor-sweeping window coverings featuring all the bells and whistles, such as valances, swag, and jabot.
Girl. You be so 80’s rocking Hunter Green this fall. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
Also. Fanny packs are back in a major way. They are now called “belt bags”. But you ain’t fooling me, I know a fanny pack when I see one. And I’ll probably be giving that trend a try too. Maybe it will cover up my mom pooch.
Disclaimer: Many of these looks come from the boutique I own, Spruced Cooperative, in Edmond Oklahoma. Because, duh. I love the clothing we order. But legitimately I hope I inspire you streeeeeeetch one item in your closet into a bunch of different looks.
Let’s start with the staples for these outfits: The One Way Ticket Dress in Hunter Green (it comes in Burgundy as well) and a pair of Sahara Vegan Leather Block Heel Open Toe Booties. (These are in-store only and not available in our online shop.)
Business Casual: Never underestimate the power of just a simple dress paired with the right accessories. This effortless, bell sleeved dress is taken up a notch with a vintage inspired statement necklace and woven handbag with a fun scarf tied to the handle. Walk out the door, call your boss on casual Fridays, and tell her you are gonna make this work day your BOSS.
Preppy Teacher: Oh the neckerchief… I am loving you right now! This tone-on-tone look with the same color scheme in the dress and neckerchief are broken up with the coffee colored cardi. The long line of buttons on the cardigan mimic the shape of a blazer, taking this look to a more professional level.
Side note: Llamas are giving me LIFE right now and this scarf is no exception.
Mom’s Night Out: A long mustard colored cardi (that is oh-so-buttery soft) brings out hints of Hunter Green without being too OBVI. Style Tip: Pull out the smallest accent color in a floral and bring that out in your layering pieces.
Date Night At A Hipster Hole In The Wall Eatery: You know those super casual, poorly lit, hang out of bearded guys paired with girls in half tops and has amazing food? A few of my local OKC favorites are The Mule, The Jones Assembly (they have the most AHMAZING charcuterie tray evah), and Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails. It’s a date night look that you can’t try TOO hard to master. Low key, I totally fit in here, even thought I’ve pushed out two babies and wear Spanx. I paired this Tennessee Whiskey Shearling Rider Vest with this dress for a simple yet hip look. Maybe I’ll blend in without anyone noticing.
Play Date Casual: I totally would have paired my chucks with this outfit if I had them at the shop, but alas, my Sahara Block Heels still do the outfit justice. Just tie a simple flannel shirt at the highest point of your waist and call ‘er done. Rumor has it that buffalo check is phasing out this fall and smaller, preppier flannel patterns will be the go-to. Not gonna lie, I’ll still wear my tried and true black and white buffalo check flannel but I will be sneaking in some of this year’s more current plaids as well.
What is your go-to item in your closet you stretch to the max? Can’t live without? Has nubbies on it that you need to replace this year? Don’t hold out on us and let us know.
