DIY Striped Dresser {before & after}
Remember this little guy I picked up on my trip to Eureka Springs?
Well, he’s had quite a makeover since then.
This dresser is having it’s own Pretty Woman moment, wouldn’t you say?
Want to know how to transform your own hooker “a.k.a. old dresser” into Richard Gere’s date?
Let’s walk thru this makeover, step-by-step:
First I ripped off the loose pieces of wood on the drawers of the dresser. And then using an oribital sander, I smoothed out the rough edges.
I then painted the entire piece Omaha Ochre.
And then after a little measuring, and mostly eye-balling it, I taped off using Frog Tape Delicate Surfaces.
And then I painted the entire piece a second coat of Simply White.
I removed the tape and protected the entire piece with Durable Satin Finish.
Let’s review the before & after again, shall we?
I love the final result, don’t you?
I love the imperfections in the wood.
And that I was able to keep her original knobs.
And look at the crisp, clean lines!
I hauled her down to Feathered Nest this week. I hope she goes to a good home. One where they won’t judge her for her hooker past and treat her like the Julia Roberts she really is.
What piece of furniture can you give a second chance with a little paint and a lotta love?
