As most of you know, my parents moved up here several months ago and since then we’ve been working on their house; transforming it from bright reds and yellows to whites and grays. It has changed 100% over the last few months and I’m eager to share all the changes with you as we finish each space! In the dining room we used an abstract painting that my brother painted and so we wanted something decorative, but simple, that wouldn’t take away from the art and other elements in the room. The solution was some diy home decor in the form of hanging plates.
Here’s the before wall we had to work with.
And here’s the after.
You can create the same look with plates that may be family heirloom or some you picked up. We picked these up at HomeGoods for $2 and $3 a piece.
To create the look we began by adhering these hangers to the back. You can get the wire hangers but we didn’t want to see those little claw like wires over the plates. These hangers we picked up at Hobby Lobby. With a little water and 24 hour wait time, and you’re ready to hang.
Before hanging we laid the plates out on the floor to decide on the arrangement. Once you’ve decided on arrangement you’re ready to hang! We started from the middle and worked out way out.
It’s a simple and inexpensive fix to a wall that needs a little something.
