Thrift in the City is my review of local Oklahoma City and Metro Area thrift shops and spots to find antique deals in OKC.
Golden Goose Flea Market is your typical flea market with many vendors selling anything from comic books, dishes, music memorabilia, and the such. Saturday me, the hubs and baby bubs made a trip out to the ol’ MWC. Scott hates it when I go to places like this alone because there are your definite scraggly old addicts hanging on the sidewalks. I don’t think I would be nervous to go here alone, but maybe I have just gotten used to the thrift store crowd. No one approached us asking for money, so that was a plus.
As a bonus they serve free hot dog. Yes, “dog” as in singular. I guess you don’t get more than one!
I did not partake in the dog eating.
All of the vendors were really helpful and willing to wheel and deal on items. My goal at flea markets is to NEVER pay asking price and this trip was no exception! Most items are not marked with a price, so you have to ask. I never suggest a price, I ask and then see what they say.
I considered purchasing this. It was about 2.5 ft tall and I thought it would have been perfect for a little girl to play with. But it was unmarked and I couldn’t find anyone to ask.
I bought this iron tray.
Some paint brushed and tools for .50 each.
HA! I would be 40 or pregnant any day!
I did not buy this pillow…
OH I WANTED THESE $25.00 VINTAGE BOOTS SO BAD!
But they were a size 5 and just a tad bit snug.
Handmade bookmarks for $1.00 each. I bought some for my book loving friends and I bought one for a little girl who’s mother said they didn’t have enough money to get one.
Of course, I made her ask her Mom if it was alright first.
That made my day.
I also bought this mirror.
A vintage clock that has a coat of turquoise paint in it’s future.
A cheese plate and a candle stick for a project I have been wanting to tackle.
There were a few pieces of furniture, but they were in rough shape, so if you know what you are doing in the furniture repair department this is a great place to venture to. I didn’t buy any because I had a baby in the backseat of my SUV and my garage is full.
The Golden Goose & East County Swap Meet is a great flea market to venture to, with a few antique gems, a lot of crap, GREAT prices, interesting people watching, and a fun afternoon off the beaten path.
Every time I come here I feel a littler richer, prettier, and classier! Great for the ‘ol self esteem!
Go visit the Golden Goose and East County Swap Meet at
