Who is ready for a quick backyard makeover?
This convo with my kids sums up my feelings about hanging out on our back patio BEFORE this makeover.
Kids: “Can we play in the backyard?”
Me: “It’s too outsidy outside”
Kids: “But Whyyyyyy???”
Me: “The sun is shining too bright.”
“It’s too hot.”
“I hate my back patio and that’s FINAL.”
No more sad faces around here.
A few weeks ago I, along with a bunch of other local blogging gals, were invited to preview the new At Home Store in Moore, OK.
They gave us each gift cards to get our spend on but I was too busy talking and drinking wine to make any real decor decisions.
See the below evidence in this FB Live Video.
I am a slow decorator.
I like to mull over my options before I pull the purchasing trigger.
I perused the At Home website for dayz coming up with my game plan.
In the meantime, I listed my 7 year old back patio furniture on a FB garage sale group, and by that evening they were GONE.
Although this set has been really good to us, our back porch is not covered, so the cushions had to be removed and put in the garage if a single drop of rain fell.
I called my husband the pillow nazi because he was super strict about the whole pillow preservation process.
Good thing though, because when we sold the patio set, the pillows were in almost pristine condition.
I made two trips to At Home, both times using a 15% off coupon from their Facebook Page.
I was undecided on if I was going to buy a outdoor dining room table or a coffee table when I spotted this marble table on Craigslist for $25. I thought the marble would hold up well in the outdoor elements and the base could be painted.
My hubby went to pick it up immediately after work and I am so glad he snagged it.
It’s super heavy, easy to clean, and just the right size for the space.
For the second shopping trip in Operation Make Me Wanna Go Outside With My Kids I grabbed all of the accessories to complete the space.
I decided to use faux succulents because #1 For being a proclaimed “low maintenance” plant, succulents sure do have a short life span in my house & #2. They were also on clearance.
I’m still contemplating on my coffee table paint color but I am leaning towards a kelly green, like Alexandrite.
All of the pillows and plants were less than $10 each + an additional 50% off with the At Home mega clearance sale they are having.
The oversized concrete planters were the most expensive items but totally worth it because they are super heavy and I think they will last forever.
We have been spending so much time out here since we revamped the space. My kiddos are LOVING IT.
And I am loving that almost the entire makeover was on clearance!
Clearance + Craigslist = Lurve.
If I had known a back patio makeover would make me feel like a better mom I woulda tackled this a long time ago.
Thank you At Home Stores for providing me gift cards to makeover this space in my home. Make sure you like them on FB so you can grab your coupon and see their weekly Flash Find deals.
