I recently designed a playroom for a client. We were in need of art and wanted to something unique for the play kitchen area. Anthropologie always has the cutest dish towels and napkins, so I hit up Anthropologie and we were ready to create some framed custom art.
The walls were a soft gray and the clients home is very coastal in style. So I decided to keep the area neutral with grays and whites; and added pops of color in the art, chairs, and accessories.
Anthropologie has a large selection of patterns and colors to choose from. I wanted it to feel fun and eclectic; so we mixed a bunch of patterns, colors, and textures.
With some white frames from Target, some scissors, and tape we were able to frame up the fabrics to create a statement in the room; and add a splash of color to the wall.
Tip: When attaching fabrics to a mat, start in the middle of fabrics and tape from the center and move out to the corners. If you’ve ever created a canvas from scratch, it’s the same process. It helps to ensure the fabrics are smooth and wrinkle free.
I love how it turned out! Modern, simple, and just plain fun!!! And it’s not something that they will grow out of any time soon!
