Last week I showed you how to spray this media console with the HomeRight Fine Finish Max Sprayer. Today I finally get to reveal the finished piece! Although the smooth and professional paint finish looks awesome it is the furniture wax that gives it that added layer of magic.
I have always swooned after these Jacobean Buffets but I have never been able to score one. A friend on Facebook was selling it and I snapped it right up. Her husband had done the majority of the work on the piece, making an area for a media console and a drawer underneath. Where are people always finding these buffets? They are like my unicorn of furniture – a myth I have never seen in person until now.
Barn Wood Soft Wax is the perfect shade of gray for furniture wax, reminding me of many Restoration Hardware finishes. Since I have commitment issues I painted up a sample board in the Nickel/Barn Wood combo before I dived right into my project.
The wax stays in all of those yummy nooks & crannies, bringing out the detail in the piece, and mimicking where the dust would settle in a true antique piece of furniture.
If you watched my debacle of a spray gun tutorial then you know this shelf is the main reason I used a sprayer instead of hand painting it. If you have ever hand painted shelves you know what I mean.
And for a girl who paints a lot of white and gray furniture for clients this project was a fun way to mix things up.
I was a little worried since the drawer was originally black and I was painting over it with such a light color but two coats of paint did the trick.
See how the Barn Wood Wax just brings all of those curves and ornate detail to life?
And just in case you are wondering how much wax you need to purchase for a project, this 4oz container was almost gone when I had completed the project. Keep in mind I did teach a class and spoon some out for each of the students, but it wasn’t much.
After working on this piece I ordered a ton of Barn Wood Wax to stock in my retail stores, but of course you can always order it in my online shop or find a Heirloom Traditions retailer near you here.
You had better believe the next time I spot a Jacobean style buffet it. will. be. mine. Those curvy legs are addictive. I am working on a new video showing how to apply Barn Wood Wax. If all goes planned it will be edited by Monday. Make sure you sign up to get it delivered to your email inbox here.
